Seeds - chile Aji Pineapple
The Aji Pineapple (c. baccatum) chili is a medium to hot, sweet and fruity pepper with a lovely yellow gold color. It takes 70-110 days to harvest.
With elongated fruits that average from 5-8cm long and are borne on a tall plant which can grow to 5 feet, they prefer not to be bound by pot planting but does do well in cooler climates.
From Peru, Aji Pineapple is most commonly used fresh. Perfect in salsas and seasonal salads they also pair well with saltier meats, such as bacon and ham. Since they are so prolific, they are great used as a base for fruity hot sauces.
Note that this type of pepper - Ají - is only semi-domesticated; some of the seed is always dormant, even with good germination temperatures - but just a couple of plants should suffice as they are usually quite big and vigorous.
Seed count varies ranging from 10-20 seeds per pack depending on supplier - please call ahead for confirmation.
